As part of our ongoing Local initiative and to effectively gain coverage of the Local brand throughout the United Kingdom, we have acquired the Skelmersdale based company. Founded nearly 20 years ago by Boyd Park, Parkfresh is a terrific business to add to our bow - a slick, profitable operation with some very strong employees who will complement our own capabilities.
Like us, Parkfresh mainly supply fresh fruit, vegetables and salads, and like us have ties with Rungis Market in Paris. Their target market comprises restaurants, hotels, schools, hospitals, nursing and residential homes, caterers, sandwich shops and so on. The company have a very positive reputation in the North West, having achieved their BRC accreditation at the highest level for the last three years and like us were regional finalists in last year’s HBS Entrepreneurial Challenge.
The Company’s northern coverage will enhance the excellent service we provide in the North currently via our Manchester operation. Our aim is to provide Manchester with further support and added value through closer geographical ties, higher volumes and other obvious synergies.
There will be no compromising of either operation and both sites are key to our strategic ambitions in the North West, especially in Manchester and Liverpool, as these are key conurbations within their own right.
Boyd recently commented for the announcements’ launch to the press:
