Fresh Direct are Red Tractor certified for all UK produce and can provide a visible indicator to provenance and traceability.
The purpose of the Red Tractor standard is to assure consumers that farmers and growers are meeting standards of good agricultural practice. It is also the firmest guarantee yet that food can be traced right back to the farms from which it came - an assurance that is backed up by regular traceback inspections. Over 78,000 farmers and growers are now members of the scheme, all committed to maintaining high standards of food safety and hygiene, animal welfare and environmental protection.
Fresh Direct are a corporate member of LEAF which stands for Link Environment and Farming and fully supports the environmental measures linked with an integrated farm management system.
Recent studies and health scares have demonstrated that traceability is essential to our industry. Fresh Direct provide full traceability for all produce items and have adopted a field to fork policy for all their core lines. Planting, harvesting and treatment records are subject to regular reviews and a recall procedure is in place that is regularly tested to guarantee its effectiveness.
Fresh Directs BRC A grade certificate confirms that we have met specific requirements to enable the packing and distribution of UK and imported fresh produce, chilled foods and organic produce in all of our depots. This certification shows the continued commitment of Fresh Direct to ensure optimum standards for our customers.
