Mushrooms & fungi

mushrooms-2

A mushroom is the fleshy, spore-bearing fruiting body of a fungus. Sounds appealing, right?! The truth of the matter is that mushrooms neither sound nor look all that appealing, but the taste and variety is where they come into their own!

Their nutritional value is also something to shout about, as they are particularly low in fat, carbohydrates and calories. They are also a good source of B vitamins such as riboflavin, niacin and pantothenic acid, as well as minerals such as selenium, copper and potassium.

Fresh Direct can supply a huge variety of mushrooms! Our range includes button, oyster, flat, chestnut, Portobello, shitake, morel, chanterelle, pied de mouton, girolle and plenty more. And let’s not forget the truffles!

In fact, we even have a huge range of foraged wild mushrooms available when they’re in season throughout the year. Check out our foraged foods page for more info on those…
