Fruit vegetables are veggies that form from the fruits of the plants that bear them… Sounds confusing right?!
To give you a better idea, a large portion of the fruit vegetable family is made up of capsicum varieties, including the popular bell peppers and a wide variety of chilli peppers. The other chunk comes from tomatoes, which come in a range of colours, shapes and sizes.
To give you a bit of a run down on the fruit vegetable range we supply, it includes bell peppers, red chillies, green chillies, jalapenos, habaneros, bird’s eye chillies, cayenne chillies, beef tomatoes, cherry tomatoes, plum tomatoes, round tomatoes, vine tomatoes, aubergines…
You get the point – lots of chillies and loads of tomatoes! Just tell us what you’re after and we’ll see if it’s in our warehouse.
Nutritionally speaking, tomatoes are a good source of carotenoids and potassium, as well as being useful sources of vitamins C and E. Not only that, they’re very low in calories.
And as for chillies, well they’re an excellent source of vitamin C. In fact, gram for gram, chillies contain more vitamin C than oranges! Fancy a glass of freshly squeezed chilli juice with your breakfast tomorrow instead? Nah, me neither…
